Exciting things are happening at Elmhurst College! The Music Department has long been recognized for its exceptional training in jazz and music education among other areas of concentration. Currently, students in the flute studio are majoring in flute or saxophone performance, music business, music education, and elementary education. Elmhurst students have incredible drive and discipline, and I look forward to many wonderful years ahead.
The Elmhurst College Summer Music Academy will be celebrating it’s fourth season from June 6 – 11, 2016. Course offerings will include masterclasses and lessons by instrument, Theory and Composition courses, Music Production seminars, and Concerts by students and faculty. Musicians of age 14 and up are welcome to apply.
Additionally, Credo Flute will have its inaugural session from July 20 – 25, 2015. Â I am thrilled to be collaborating with esteemed colleagues Bonita Boyd of the Eastman School of Music, Tadeu Coelho of the North Carolina School of the Arts, and Peter Slowik of Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. Â Select high school flutists will be performing Bach’s Suite in b minor with string orchestra, and select collegiate flutists will be performing the complete Brandenburg Concerti. Â The elite Brandenburg musicians will be performing at Symphony Center in Chicago and Severance Hall in Cleveland.
