I’ll be updating news about my upcoming project to record the complete cello suites by J.S. Bach transcribed for flute.
About a decade ago, maybe more, my dear colleague and friend Johann Buis approached me with a beautiful hand-written score of the Bach Cello Suites now transcribed for flute by his dear friend. For years, we tossed around the idea of recording it somehow to share with his friend. It was to my deep regret that we never got the project done before his passing.
The idea of performing the Bach Cello Suites is a daunting one, as the works are written so pristinely and perfectly for cello, an instrument that I adore. I’ve finally mustered up the courage to take on this project in coming years, with our first recording to be tackled in August of 2018.
I’ve enlisted the consultation of Bach Scholar-Extraordinaire (his official title) Jason Moy and Sound Engineer-Extraordinaire (also official) Dan Nichols. More news to come!
